The Senior Data Architect is responsible for taking elements of the company's business strategy and defining in the implementation of an information technology system data architecture which supports that strategy.  The Senior Data Architect must understand the company's business while still being able to delve into nitty-gritty aspects of data use. A consummate professional in both the business and technology realms, the Senior Data Architect will understand the business uses of data and the technical needs and limitations that manifest in innovative data designs.


  • Determine database structural requirements by analyzing client operations, applications, and programming; reviewing objectives with clients; evaluating current systems;
  • Develop database solutions by designing proposed system; defining database physical structure and functional capabilities, security, back-up, and recovery specifications.
  • Install database systems by developing flowcharts; applying optimum access techniques; coordinating installation actions; documents actions.
  • Maintain database performance by identifying and resolving production and application development problems; calculating optimum values for parameters; evaluating, integrating, and installing new releases; completing maintenance; answering user questions.
  • Prepare users by conducting training.
  • Provide database support by coding utilities, responding to user questions, and resolving problems.
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Accomplish information systems and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
  • Design and implement new data models in support of business goals
  • Provide guidelines for software infrastructure for use by internal engineering teams
  • Provide guidelines and/or training to technology staff on how to utilize core systems
  • Maintain documentation on the design and correct use of core architectural functionalities
  • Review success of the system and works with operations to ensure its efficient running
  • Recommend any future computer system technologies that will help in the improvement of business in the organization
  • Work in connection with other IT experts inside and outside the organization
  • Troubleshoot complex computer system problems
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for data frameworks, methods, design patterns, and tools
  • Aid in supporting other business units and clients by representing the Technology department and its initiatives


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related degree, or equivalent years of experience
  • 7+ years’ experience with various data modeling tools and databases.
  • Experience with industry standard ERD tools
  • Understanding of relational, NoSQL, and Big Data
  • Understanding of common design patterns
  • Communicate technical and non-technical matters with confidence at all business levels both internally and externally
  • Stay on top of cutting-edge technology
